The work of Maurice Ganis focuses on painting and the representation of spaces who describe every day life as seen by the artist. The main point on his work is the use of symbolic objects that refer to the interpretation that he believes is the relation of faith with the dead materials that surround us.
What he suggests is the thought he produces and lives rather than images from the world he is being surrounded. The reason he insists on painting is standing on the flat nature of the medium that creates the illusion of relief. By his work someone gets the experience he was there the time it was created. That is because of the great importance the artist gives to the photographic moment and his decision around subject matter. The reason he reproduces photography with the language of painting is to return to the same subject who are objects with paint that he uses to recycle the idea of the window and it’s importance in history of Art.
The work concludes to remove the spectator from the primary idea because we see an image that has gone through filters before it was exhibited. The language he uses at painting is the representation of the 90’s that leads to the object of usage and to a reason of existence for the return to everyday and the art world. His opinion is that contemporary society imposes painting through way of life and at the same time with artists who do perform acts, inevitably act others who create objects through a need for expression that becomes a kind of therapy through occupation.
His interest for painting comes out of a worry for this medium which he believes has the ability to give solutions to quests and problems that may concern him and other people. He finds the solution by creating distances on canvas. On the first this helps him to show us he perceives the existence of space and on the second to prove that he can hold an opinion around aesthetics.
What makes the connection between his painting and contemporary art is his interest for technology. This is seen at his work where he uses slogans of mobile telephony, signs of electronic music and symbols as he interprets of computers. The conclusion that comes out is that he is interested on the difference between tradition and evolution. It is very important for his work the color tones that remind commix and taking in mind his interest for the moving image the works of Ganis are trying to tell a story of wandering at the contemporary urban landscape.
